Istanbul Forest Innovation Week Concludes
The event, which commenced on Monday, attracted participants from 75 nations, 30 international organizations, and over 400 experts in the field.
In the final session of the European Forestry Commission (EFC), elections were held for new leadership roles.
A representative from Slovakia was chosen as the new president, while Switzerland and the United States were selected as vice-presidents. The EFC's next gathering will take place in Rome in 2027.
During the event, Rebecca Tavani, a Forestry Specialist with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), presented the organization's Open Foris initiative and its corresponding toolkit. Tavani explained that the FAO has been providing training in this area for 15 years.
Open Foris is an open-source software initiative designed to assist with analysis and reporting in areas like activity monitoring, biodiversity, and forest inventories.
Tavani emphasized that these efforts reflect the FAO's strong global influence in empowering users worldwide.
